The General Manager of Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency (LASURA), Tpl. Ajibike Shomade has charged members of her staff to imbibe the Public Service Rules and make it a lifestyle in order to achieve the #Greater Lagos vision through active participation in slum regeneration plans and activities carried out in the State.

She made the call at the opening ceremony of a two-day workshop organised by the Agency for all members of staff on Grade Level 4 -12, adding that the training was designed to help workers to get accustomed to the contents of the Public Service Rule like their religious books instead of just reading it to pass promotional exams.

Shomade, who was represented by the Director of Research, Statistics and Evaluation, Tpl. Adebola Owokade, emphasised that punctuality is the soul of businesses and civil servants should be punctual to increase work productivity.

In his presentation, the Lead Consultant of Positive Impact Consulting, Dr. Young Waribo, while speaking on “Competence Development and Communication, an Essential Strategy for Success in a Team”, likened an organisation to a canoe driven by every staff on board. He encouraged participants to work with the Head of the Agency with a sense of responsibility and unity to ensure safe and effective service delivery.

Waribo further stated that the workshop will make Officers become sharper and more productive, saying, “After this workshop, you will be much more equipped to go and conquer everything about your job and great performance will be your outcome in achieving the mandate of LASURA. I believe you will all achieve a better result at the end of these two days’ workshop”.

Mr. Oladiran Ajetunmobi, a veteran administrator from Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), spoke extensively on “Essential Tools for Communication in Public Service” and gave an explanatory lecture on the civil service modus operandi to guide against flaws in service.

On his part, the Director of Admin and Human Resources (LASURA), Mr. Bolade Oladeji shared real-life scenarios to buttress his points on “Understanding the Dynamics of Public Service”, with emphasis on Civil Service Rules and disciplinary actions under the rules.

The Competence Development Workshop which was held at the Agency’s Office was facilitated by the Admin and Human Resources Department of LASURA in conjunction with Positive Impact Consulting for Staff on Grade Level 4-12.
